These terms are an agreement between you and WellRooted LLC (“we,” “us”), the company that runs Okay, Friend (the “Service”). They cover the Okay, Friend app, our website, and the text messages your buddy sends you. By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
The short version: your buddy is an AI, not a person. Okay, Friend is a supportive tool, not therapy or medical care. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 (in the U.S.) or call 911.
Okay, Friend is an accountability buddy. You choose a small goal, habit, or daily task, pick your buddy’s name and tone, and set when you want check-ins. Your buddy then texts you and replies to what you send back.
The messages you get are written by an artificial intelligence system, not by a human. Your buddy can misunderstand you or get things wrong. Please don’t rely on it for important decisions. We may use outside companies to provide AI and text messaging, and your messages pass through their systems so the Service can work.
Okay, Friend does not provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, medical advice, or treatment. Using it does not create a therapist-client or provider-patient relationship with us or with anyone connected to us, even though our founder is a licensed clinician. Okay, Friend is a product of WellRooted LLC, a coaching and consulting company, and is separate from, and not part of, any clinical practice. Your buddy is not monitored by a person in real time.
If you are in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, U.S.) or call 911 for an emergency. Please talk to your own doctor, therapist, or pharmacist about medications and health decisions. Your buddy’s nudges, such as a reminder to take medication, are not a substitute for professional guidance.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You need a U.S. mobile number that you own or control to receive texts.
Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in details private. You’re responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at hello@thewellrooted.life if you think someone else is using it.

We can limit, pause, or end access if we think these terms are being broken or the Service is being misused.
You own what you send us. You give us permission to store, process, and use it to run, secure, and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to delete your data at any time by using the delete option in the app or emailing hello@thewellrooted.life.
The Okay, Friend name, logo, app, website, and content belong to WellRooted LLC or its licensors. You get a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the Service while you follow these terms.
If we offer paid features, we’ll show you the price and billing terms before you pay, and you’ll be able to cancel any time through the same place you signed up. Apple’s rules apply to purchases made in the iOS app.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that texts will always arrive on time or at all. We don’t promise any particular result, such as building a habit or reaching a goal.
To the fullest extent the law allows, WellRooted LLC and the people who work with it aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, that come from your use of the Service. Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you haven’t paid us anything. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
You can stop at any time by replying STOP, pausing your buddy, or deleting your data in the app. We can end or change the Service at any time. Sections that should reasonably survive, like those about our property, disclaimers, and limits on responsibility, will continue after your use ends.
We may update these terms. If we make an important change, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the state where WellRooted LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts located in that state, unless the law says otherwise.
